As the holiday travel season approaches you may be looking for some ways to try to stay healthy while flying with kids.
1. Bring along hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes
Bring along sanitizing wipes to wipe down all the hard surfaces surrounding your family's seats, then have your children either wash their hands or use hand sanitizer to try to keep the area as clean as possible.
2. Dealing with a time change
If you are going to be traveling to a new time zone consider adjusting your family's sleep schedule a few days before you leave to help with the adjustment. Sleep is important to staying healthy while traveling.
3. Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is important to stay healthy, remember to drink plenty of water during your flight. Remember to never drink the water in the airplane bathroom.
4. Combatting Ear Pain
During take off and landing have your kids drink something or if they are old enough chew gum. KidsHealth.org recommends giving your children a dose of an over the counter pain reliever a half hour before the flight to help ease discomfort.
If you have time before your trip consider asking your doctor or nurse if they have any extra tips to offer for staying healthy while traveling or while flying with kids.
